Bruce A. Menin
Crescent Heights
With a career spanning over three decades, Bruce A. Menin is a distinguished leader in the development of architecturally distinctive mixed-use high-rises in premier U.S. cities. As a founding principal of Crescent Heights, he has guided the ideation, positioning, and construction of more than 150 major residential and mixed-use properties—delivering over $14 billion in development nationwide.
Under Menin’s leadership, Crescent Heights projects have catalyzed the renaissance of several urban neighborhoods, including New York’s Financial District, where his pioneering projects established the area as a residential district; San Francisco’s South of Market; Philadelphia’s Arts District; Atlanta’s Midtown; and San Diego’s Gaslamp District.
A number of Menin’s high-rise towers have been noted for dramatically impacting city skylines. NEMA Chicago, for example, an 80-story multifamily tower on Grant Park designed by Rafael Viñoly, was proclaimed an “instant landmark” by the architectural critic of the Chicago Tribune, likening it to the Willis Tower and Aon Building.
Menin’s vision for ultra-luxury rentals created the one-of-a-kind Ten Thousand in Beverly Hills, recognized as the foremost multifamily project in the nation. He also created the NEMA brand—the country’s first true national residential multifamily brand—establishing highly acclaimed flagship towers including NEMA San Francisco, NEMA Boston, and NEMA Chicago. These and other multifamily rental projects, such as Jasper in San Francisco and 25 Broad in the Financial District, set new rental high-water marks in their respective markets by featuring condo-quality finishes and ambitious amenity collections.
Most recently, Menin, a Miami native, oversaw the development and record-pace lease-up of the Whole Foods–anchored Forma Miami in Edgewater—again creating the leading multifamily project in the city. Forma features next-generation urban living by integrating expansive amenities, wellness and community-focused design, and extensive resident lifestyle programming operated in-house by Crescent Heights.
With his partners, Crescent Heights has returned to the Miami condominium market, where the firm began, with the success of Five Park on South Beach and the Gale Downtown in Miami Worldcenter, among other projects. Crescent Heights is also developing condominium towers such as 850 Lake Shore in Chicago, Panorama in Atlanta, and Skyline in Orange County. Earlier condominium projects such as The Remington in Los Angeles, The Regatta in Marina del Rey, and The Mayfair in Atlanta are still considered skyline landmarks and among the premier condominium projects in their respective markets.
Menin has also developed multiple retail, office, and hotel projects, such as 1212 Lincoln Road, Baptist Hospital at 709 Alton Road, and the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago. He is a founding partner of Bodega, the celebrated Mexican-style taqueria and tequila concept in Miami, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
Menin graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in government. He holds a master’s degree in economics (with honors) from the University of Sydney, Australia, as a Rotary Foundation Scholar, and received a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University, where he served as editor of the Law Review. An active philanthropist, Menin is chairman emeritus of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. He and his wife are proud parents of four children.
