Future-Proofing the Building: Designing Today for the Technology of Tomorrow

As technology becomes increasingly embedded in the way buildings are designed, constructed, operated, and experienced, developers are being forced to think beyond the traditional project timeline. The decisions made before a building ever opens can have lasting implications for efficiency, security, connectivity, resident experience, and long-term value.

This conversation will explore how leading developers, construction executives, and technology leaders are approaching that shift – from bringing the right expertise into the process earlier to creating greater alignment between architects, engineers, contractors, technology providers, and operators. The discussion will examine which innovations are delivering meaningful value, where projects are still falling into fragmented systems and costly retrofits, and how owners can make decisions today that remain effective as technology continues to evolve.

The goal: a more intentional, integrated approach to technology that supports the entire lifecycle of a property – not just the moment it opens.
